Bringing Workplace Safety Messages to Life Through Animation

Workplace safety animation brings everyday risks into focus through clear visual storytelling. Moving a box or reaching a high shelf might feel routine, but these familiar tasks offer useful opportunities to talk about safety.

October is National Safe Work Month in Australia. Led by Safe Work Australia, the 2026 campaign theme is “Safe work is for life”, highlighting the importance of protecting workers’ lives, health and future.

To support the conversation, we’re sharing two short animations we developed, exploring manual handling and ladder stability.

Making safety messages visual

Animation allows us to show a workplace scenario, draw attention to a hazard and explain a key message within a short video.

Through character movement, close-up views and on-screen text, we can direct attention to details that matter: how a load is handled, what is beneath a ladder or what should be considered before starting a task.

For these animations, we chose familiar office situations and kept each video focused on one topic. They are examples of how visual storytelling can support safety awareness and team discussion.

Manual handling - think before you lift

Our manual handling animation follows a character lifting a box, using visual callouts to highlight differences in posture and how the load is held.

The video also draws attention to the decisions that come before lifting: assessing the load, clearing the route and considering whether suitable equipment or assistance is needed.

These decisions belong within a broader approach to managing manual handling risks, including improving how tasks and workspaces are designed. Safe Work Australia identifies task redesign and mechanical aids among the ways to reduce hazardous manual handling.

Ladder stability - check before you climb

Our ladder stability animation shows an office task going wrong when a ladder is placed on an unstable surface.

Close-up views and on-screen callouts highlight the setup before showing the consequences. The video finishes with reminders about a firm, level surface, a stable and secure ladder, and keeping the surrounding area clear.

It offers a starting point for a team conversation: what hazards can you identify, and how could the task be planned more safely?

Creating animations for your workplace

These videos demonstrate how we can turn everyday workplace scenarios into clear visual messages for safety videos, eLearning modules and training materials.

Custom animations can be developed around your workplace, equipment, audience and approved safety procedures. They can support inductions, toolbox talks, internal communications and awareness campaigns, alongside workplace-specific training.

National Safe Work Month 2026 provides a timely opportunity to review how safety messages are communicated—and keep those conversations going throughout the year.
